Fred Pancoast founded Pancoast Benefits in 1985 to provide employee benefit consulting and administration for employers nationwide. Fred spent the first 25 years of his career coaching college-level football, primarily for teams in the challenging Southeastern Conference.  As head coach at Vanderbilt University, he was a runner-up for SEC Coach of the Year.

Leaving college athletics in 1980, Fred joined Murray Manufacturing Company—an organization with more than 4,000 employees—as director of human resources.  It was the experience he gained in human resources that led him to found Pancoast Benefits five years later.
Fred is extremely active in local charitable organizations, devoting a great deal of time to Operation Stand Down Nashville, Room in the Inn and numerous other civic projects. In 2007, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. President George W. Bush honored Fred with the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2008.
